About this role

As our Director Delivery Services Germany, you'll lead the delivery services organisation of the Lieferando platform, Germany's largest on-demand food & convenience delivery platform. You'll drive delivery excellence, cost efficiencies, and rapid expansion across the nation. A key member of the Country Leadership Team, you'll own our entire delivery services agenda – from strategy and execution to oversee diverse teams in planning, forecasting and vendor management. You'll be crucial in accelerating our growth in a highly competitive market.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility senior role where you'll be at the forefront of our national expansion initiative, closely working with our delivery suppliers and country- and global Logistics leadership. Leveraging your operational experience and strategic mindset, you'll be leading and optimising complex delivery models to maximise cost efficiencies and delivery experience. We're looking for a leader who leads with unwavering purpose, navigates change with agility, and empowers teams through empathy and vision.

Location: Hybrid - at least 3 days a week from our modern Berlin office.

Reporting to: Country Managing Director Germany (Platform)

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

• Strategic ownership: work with our German and global JET Logistics teams to steer and optimise the platform's delivery services, with a focus on service excellence, bottom-line results and expansion to achieve targets set.

• Strategic planning: Define and execute the short-, mid-, and long-term strategy for the last-mile delivery with a focus on expansion (regions, ranges, hours), sourcing, delivery services optimisation and organisation transformation.

• Cost management & budgeting: Develop and help manage overall delivery services budget and identify and implement measures to improve unit economics.

• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and develop high-performing teams in our matrix organisation, including. Forecasting, Business Planning, Vendor-, Performance- & Finance Management, setting expectations and providing guidance to achieve goals.

• Sourcing & Vendor Management: Grow vendor management team, establish best-in-class processes/ standards and steer strategic sourcing as well as (supplier) relationship management with our logistics partners. 

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with both the Lieferando country management team and global logistics functions to implement and refine the logistics agenda.

• Performance Management: Establish and own KPIs (order volume, network and operations), track performance of our delivery services suppliers, and regularly report actionable insights to country- and global leadership.

• Risk & Compliance Management: Identify potential risks within the delivery services & vendor operations and manage them with contingency and mitigation plans.

• Innovation: Drive innovation to elevate delivery services fulfilment services and service models.

What will you bring to the table? 

• Deep expertise in logistics (preferably last-mile) or supply chain management, ideally in sectors relevant to food delivery or grocery, with experience in a leadership or directorial role.

• Deep and broad understanding and experience in various aspects of logistics, with special focus on forecasting & planning, financial & performance management, as well as vendor & supplier relationship management. 

• Strong business and strategic mindset to fully understand commercial / business requirements and seamlessly translate them into operational fulfilment. 

• Proven track record of P&L leadership with a strong history of managing large P&L statements and consistently achieving financial objectives.

• Experience in leading a logistics organisation through a period of transformation (incl. structural, processual and technological changes)

• Strong stakeholder management skills across departments and seniority levels in a matrixed, transforming organisation.

• A collaborative and inspiring leader with experience in managing large, complex and cross-functional teams. 

• Bachelor's degree and Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong business acumen. Fluency in English and fluency in German is preferred.
