Director of Product

This position is based in Berlin or Munich, Germany. 

The Director of Product will shape the strategy, vision, and execution of IDnow's next-generation Trust Platform - our new foundation for Orchestration, Observability, and Decisioning across Identity Verification. This platform will secure IDnow's market leadership and fuel the next phase of our growth. 

Built from the ground up in 2025 and launching in early 2026, the Trust Platform will evolve into a powerful integration layer that helps customers maximize conversion rates while detecting and preventing emerging fraud patterns using modern, AI-driven mechanisms, including GenAI while staying compliant. 

In this leadership role, you will drive product innovation, lead the market launch, and continuously differentiate the product. You will guide and mentor a team of Product Managers and work closely with engineering, sales, marketing, compliance, and executive leadership to ensure our products meet market demand, regulatory expectations, and IDnow's strategic goals. 

Key Responsibilities: 
Product Strategy & Vision 

• Define and communicate a compelling product vision for the Trust Platform aligned with IDnow's business goals.
• Develop and execute product roadmap for the platform that deliver value to customers and drive business growth.
• Drive customer-driven product development by continuously engaging with customers, analyzing feedback and data, and ensuring that every product decision is grounded in validated customer insights to deliver meaningful value and measurable impact.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes (including eIDAS and European Digital Identity Wallet initiatives) to inform product direction. 

Leadership & Team Management 

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing product management team.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
• Lead Product Design / UX and for the user interface towards customers to ensure cohesive, intuitive, and delightful user experiences across the entire product portfolio; foster close collaboration between design, product, and engineering teams to achieve seamless delivery of customer value. 

Product Development & Lifecycle Management 

• Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of IDnow's Trust Platform, from beta, over launch and ongoing extension and optimization.
• Prioritize features, enhancements, and technical improvements based on customer feedback, business impact, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and operations to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget. 

Stakeholder Engagement 

• Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Compliance, and Customer Success to ensure product-market fit and successful go-to-market execution.
• Represent the product organization in executive discussions and with key clients. 

Performance & Analytics 

• Define and track key product metrics (KPIs) to measure success and inform decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement based on data-driven insights. 

Preferred Experience 

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in product management & product development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role (preferably in SaaS, fintech, regtech, or identity verification).
• Strong experience in Agile Software Development: Deep understanding of agile principles, frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Lean), and the ability to scale agile practices across multiple cross-functional teams. Proven track record of fostering continuous discovery and delivery cycles that balance speed, quality, and customer value.
• Leadership of Autonomous Development Teams: Experienced in building and empowering mission-oriented product teams that take full ownership of outcomes. Skilled at establishing clear product visions and guardrails while enabling autonomy, accountability, and creativity at the team level.
• Expertise in OKR-Driven Execution: Demonstrated success in implementing and coaching teams through Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) frameworks to align strategic intent with measurable outcomes. Adept at cascading company goals into actionable team OKRs that drive focus, transparency, and impact.
• Product Thinking Based on Marty Cagan's Theories: Deep alignment with the principles described in Inspired and Empowered — championing empowered product teams that discover, define, and deliver products customers love and that drive business results. Skilled at fostering collaboration between product, design, and engineering ("the product trio") to ensure solutions are valuable, usable, and feasible.
• Outcome-Oriented Leadership: Strong focus on outcomes over outputs — driving strategy through continuous discovery, hypothesis testing, and customer-centric iteration.
• Strategic Influence: Able to bridge company strategy with hands-on execution, mentor product managers, and shape a culture that values learning, empowerment, and innovation.
• Proven track record of building and scaling B2B products in fast-paced environments.
• Strong understanding of digital identity, compliance, and regulatory landscapes (e.g., KYC, AML, eIDAS,European Digital Identity Wallet) is a plus.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English; German or French is a plus.
