AVA Energy are currently supporting our client in Germany on their search for an experienced and motivated Service Engineer to join our global field service team, supporting the installation, maintenance, commissioning, and troubleshooting of steam turbines and generators (100 MW and above).

In this role, you'll work hands-on at customer sites across the world—ensuring that large rotating equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. You'll collaborate closely with project teams, site supervisors, and customers to deliver exceptional service under dynamic conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, inspection, and overhaul of steam turbines and generators (up to utility scale).
  • Lead or support commissioning, troubleshooting, and condition assessments on customer sites.
  • Analyze vibration, alignment, and performance data to support reliable operation.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical field activities in alignment with safety and quality standards.
  • Provide technical reporting and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, logistics, and customer support teams worldwide.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical degree or apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar).
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience working on large rotating equipment, preferably in power generation.
  • Strong understanding of steam turbine, generator, and auxiliary systems.
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (extended field assignments).
  • Excellent communication skills in English (German is an advantage).
  • Valid passport and unrestricted ability to travel.
