Production Manager – Berlin

A contemporary dance company is seeking a freelance Production Manager for a unique solo dance show in Berlin, Germany, where both the dancer and audience share the stage. The Stage Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth rehearsals, managing backstage logistics, and calling the show. This position requires hands-on involvement with props, costumes, and technical elements, as well as overseeing bump in and bump out. The contract is for up to a week, with the opportunity to travel with the team to Poland for additional performances. Travel and accommodation for the Poland leg are provided. The role is on-site for the full duration and offers the chance to collaborate on multiple projects with a dynamic, internationally touring company.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all stage management aspects for rehearsals and live performances
  • Call the show and manage cues for lighting, sound, and performer entrances
  • Set up and manage props, costumes, and backstage elements
  • Supervise bump in and bump out processes at each venue
  • Collaborate closely with the artist and technical team to ensure seamless show execution
  • Travel with the company from Berlin to Poland and manage stage operations for touring performances
  • Maintain a professional and organized backstage environment throughout the contract period

Skills And Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Stage Manager in theatre or live performance settings
  • Strong show calling and cue management skills
  • Technical proficiency with stage equipment and backstage operations
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to fast-paced environments
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Availability for on-site work in Berlin and travel to Poland for the duration of the contract
  • Experience with contemporary dance or similar performance genres is highly desirable
  • EU work eligibility or appropriate visa for Germany and Poland
