Role Description

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT infrastructure and systems to ensure high performance, security, and scalability. This role serves as a technical expert and key contributor in system architecture, network design, cloud integration, and operational optimization. The Senior System Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business objectives, ensuring seamless operation across on-premise and cloud environments. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical thinking, advanced technical skills, and a strategic mindset with the ability to lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement in system reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-level systems, networks, and cloud infrastructure to support business operations.
  • Lead system architecture planning, capacity analysis, and performance optimization for mission-critical applications.
  • Implement and maintain virtualization technologies, storage solutions, and backup/recovery systems.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and develop proactive solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure system security through patch management, access control, and vulnerability assessments.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to support DevOps and automation initiatives.
  • Manage configuration and documentation of systems, network topology, and operational procedures.
  • Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex technical issues.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance system performance and business agility.
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance, training, and knowledge sharing on best practices and technical standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to manage infrastructure-related contracts and support.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans to safeguard critical IT assets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering field (Master's preferred).
  • 5–8 years of experience in system engineering, infrastructure management, or IT operations.
  • Strong expertise in operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, or UNIX) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPN, DNS, routing) and security protocols.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with experience mentoring technical teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or VMware Certified Professional are preferred.
