Job Description

The Senior System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT infrastructure systems that ensure the stability, scalability, and security of organizational operations. This role involves managing servers, networks, and cloud systems while providing technical leadership and support to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate is an experienced IT professional with a deep understanding of system architecture, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. They will play a key role in driving infrastructure modernization, automation, and operational excellence.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain server infrastructure (Windows, Linux, or hybrid environments).
  • Implement and manage virtualization and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, VMware).
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
  • Manage network configurations, firewalls, and security protocols.
  • Lead system upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning initiatives.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and recovery procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with software, DevOps, and network teams to support infrastructure needs.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements for system performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or network administration.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualization platforms.
  • Proficiency in cloud infrastructure management (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet).
  • Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, VLAN).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or similar).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Relevant certifications (AWS Certified SysOps, Microsoft Azure Administrator, RHCE, CCNA, or similar) preferred.
