Responsibilities

The Segment Marketing Manager – Portable Gas Detection is responsible for leading all customer-facing marketing activities for Portable Gas Detection (PGD). This role focuses on developing go-to-market strategies, driving demand generation through marketing programs and campaigns, applying pricing policies, and overseeing regional product management and lifecycle execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regional Product & Market Ownership: Acts as the regional contact point for key products and applications, new product launches, market expansion strategies, and product & price positioning in alignment with industry trends and regulations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with Global Product Line Managers (PLMs), MarCom, Sales, and Channel Partners to ensure strategic alignment and consistency.
  • Sales & Channel Enablement: Supports MSA commercial teams, and customer service with product training, sales enablement tools, and content creation (collateral, digital assets, and sales toolkits). Educates sales teams on MSA+ Business Model, Processes, and Value Proposition
  • Customer-Centric Strategy: Build up insights through frequent customer interactions to develop portfolio and market strategies, differentiated selling propositions, product messaging and success cases.
  • Customer Experience & Loyalty: Leads efforts to make the customer experience better, strengthen loyalty, build brand awareness, and support growth—using customer feedback to improve messaging and engagement.
  • Core Market Verticals & Applications: Focuses on customers in OGPC, Utilities, and General Industry to drive adoption of Portable Gas Detection and MSA+ Connected Services & Solutions (hardware, software, services, and subscription).
  • Brand & Event Marketing: Supports regional trade shows, digital events, media planning, CSR activities, and industrial lobbying efforts to strengthen MSA's market presence.
  • Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis: Conducts competitive research, industry trend monitoring, and Voice of Customer (VOC) studies to refine MSA's market positioning and identify opportunities and threats.
  • Business Model Transformation & Subscription Growth: Leads the adoption of HaaS/SaaS models, supporting the deployment of MSA+ Connected Services to drive recurring revenue growth and enhanced customer loyalty.

This position plays a strategic role in driving the profitable growth of Portable Gas Detection and MSA+ solutions while expanding MSA's subscription-based business model to enhance recurring revenue, improve customer satisfaction, and drive long-term business performance.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Marketing, Product Management, or Technical Sales—ideally in a B2B environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and drive actionable insights
  • Results-driven mindset with a proven track record of execution
  • Strong communicator with the ability to clearly articulate MSA's vision and strategic direction
  • Skilled at understanding technical product details, identifying customer needs and turning them into competitive value propositions.  Ability to leverage emerging technologies to create customer-centric solutions and competitive advantages
  • Confident working independently as well as in diverse, cross-functional teams and managing without authority
  • Growth mindset—bold thinker, willing to innovate and take calculated risks
  • Strong business acumen, presentation, and negotiation capabilities along with necessary software tools usage to execute daily tasks.

Experience Preferred:

  • Solid knowledge of safety industry products, software solutions, standards, and regulations—especially in the gas detection space
  • Experience in technical sales and/or customer-facing roles
  • Proven track record in managing product lines end-to-end—from technical support to go-to-market execution
  • Familiarity with project-based business models, particularly within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, and Utilities sectors
  • Proficient in Salesforce CRM, including data analysis, lead generation, and campaign tracking

Education and Language Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Engineering
  • Fluent in English and German

Education and Language Preferred:

  • Master's Degree or MBA
  • German and French language proficiency
