- Tesla is seeking a Senior EHS Counsel to be part of the Tesla EMEA Legal team at our Gigafactory in Berlin Brandenburg. This counsel will be advising our Environmental, Health and Safety department (EHS) and other business units within Germany for all German Tesla entities on all environmental, health and safety law matters, including permit and environmental compliance.

What You’ll Do
- As a member of Tesla’s fun and fast-paced Legal Department at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, the Senior EHS Counsel will serve as first point of contact for EHS and all other stakeholders (e.g. senior leadership, permitting team, officers provided for under law) concerning all environmental, health and safety law topics, including permit and environmental compliance matters
- Provide day to day advice on a broad range of EHS legal issues, including immission control, water protection, waste management, hazardous incident ordinance, occupational health and health protection, radiation protection, fire protection and company fire brigade as well as structural and procedural organization
- Developing, updating, continuously improving and monitoring environmental and permit compliance system including cadastre of additional permit provisions and legal cadastre; embed with stakeholders to handle and support environmental and permit compliance, internal investigations, audits
- Provide overall strategic and tactical direction of ongoing and threatened EHS related legal disputes and litigation matters; negotiating fee arrangements with outside counsel and managing cases to minimize litigation cost
- Help build and implement training system as well as scalable, world-class EHS related policies and programs that balance legal risk with business impact
- Monitor new relevant legislation and regulation and other key developments and provide input into the process including working closely with EHS counsel globally

What You’ll Bring
- You hold 1st and 2nd state examination in law, with above-average results or comparable degree and have relevant experience at a law firm and/or in-house corporate environment in Germany
- You hold excellent knowledge of environmental, health and safety law and extensive experience in compliance matters
- You are an excellent team player with the ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, and execute pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions on a timely basis
- You work well both autonomously and collaboratively, and are effective at juggling and prioritizing competing tasks in a fast-paced, challenging environment
- You possess an entrepreneurial mindset, are a quick and flexible learner, with high standards, impeccable integrity and ethics, unquestionable good judgment, well-honed analytical skills
- You are adept at and comfortable making complex cost/benefit assessments and have strong interpersonal skills, and can effectively navigate and leverage relationships with internal stakeholders at any levels
- You have excellent communications skills, with a business fluency level in German and English (written and spoken)
