Master Thesis: Clinical Sepsis Diagnostics with

**What you will do**
Background:
- Sepsis is a complex and heterogeneous infectious disease responsible for approximately 20% of all annual deaths worldwide (11 million), yet some key questions in sepsis diagnostics remain insufficiently answered.
- NGS data were used in NextGeneSiS to identify sepsis-causing pathogens, but contain even more information about the status of the patients themselves.
**Tasks**:
- Processing of NGS data.
- Transfer of feature engineering approaches for cell-free DNA NGS data from the field of cancer diagnostics.
- Identification, processing and integration of additional publicly available data.
- Establishment of innovative diagnostic methods for sepsis diagnostics for intensive care patients using machine learning and artificial intelligence.
**What you bring to the table**
- A bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, life sciences, or similar.
- Basic knowledge of Python
- Initial experience working with next-generation sequencing data.
- Experience in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning is an advantage
- Experience in working with high performance computing clusters or Linux is an advantage
- Initiative and personal responsibility
- An ability to work independently, as well as the ability to work in a team and think critically
- Good German and English skills, both written and spoken
