**Company Description**
More than 20 years ago, zooplus was one of the first to bring the pet category into the world of eCommerce. Today, we stand strong as Europe’s leading online pet platform, delivering moments of happiness to more than 9 million pet parents each year.
At this stage in Zooplus’ growth journey, there is now a need to build new capabilities in indirect procurement, including developing strategic sourcing capabilities, robust cost savings initiative pipeline management, and spend controls in alignment with FP&A. Consequently, zooplus wishes to appoint a new Head of Indirect Procurement that can build these capabilities and a procurement approach suitable for a large, but still entrepreneurial, organisation internally.
Directly reporting to the CFO, this hire will lead a team of 5 based in Munich & Vienna. Spend responsibility is c. EUR 250m (and growing) in categories such as IT, marketing, customer care, travel, facilities, etc. This individual will also offer support in the areas of packaging and logistics, who manage their spend directly, and will collaborate with the Head of Direct Purchasing to advance common procurement capabilities (such as eSourcing) across the company.
The Head of Indirect Purchasing will be responsible for managing & executing both strategic and operational procurement with overall goals of:
- Generating savings of 8-15% on 30% of spend year after year
- Improving contracting/renewal workflow to be more efficient, faster, and with status visibility to stakeholders
- Build trusting relationships with all levels of stakeholders
- Ensure a balanced approach to risk regarding legal safeguard for the company.
- Maximizing working capital potential through payment term optimization
Essential Tasks:
The Head of Indirect Purchasing is responsible for enhancing and continuously improving the department to drive business value. This includes:
Management of a department of currently 5 procurement professionals
- Professional and disciplinary responsibility of 5 hybrid resources in two countries
- Developing the skills of the team, particularly in strategic sourcing (to include market profiling, internal needs/usage analysis, advanced RFPs, negotiations, contracting, and implementation)
- Being able to identify the necessity to add new members to the department and integrate them
- Managing and prioritisation of initiatives and activities within the department
- Providing a process and KPI driven working culture
Key communicator and influencer within the corporation
- Report directly to the Chief Finance Officer; provide insights and recommendations as to spending, collaborate on target setting, and seek sponsorship to drive indirect procurement objectives
- Engage and communicate with all relevant stakeholders of all levels, including the executive committee, the broader stakeholder base, suppliers, etc.
- Educate the organization in advanced procurement to earn support for the next level of value creation
Launch and manage effective operating routines
- Proactively build and manage a hearty pipeline of procurement initiatives, and manage them through a cadence of pipeline meetings, steerco meetings, and other levels of governance
- Be responsible for a strong annual savings target and team with FP&A to ensure spending controls; co-develop and deploy reporting, decision trees, and validation process. Participate in the annual budget process.
- Engage with executive committee stakeholders and their teams in a disciplined way
- Creating/ establishing/ managing strategies on how to involve supporting departments (e.g. legal, data protection, compliance etc.)
- Creating and improving scalable processes for each and every context and commodity
- Challenge existing rules and status quo to further optimization projects and initiatives
- Coordinate all relevant initiatives also for subsidiaries and branches (10) within the corporation
Creating sustainable savings and legal safeguard
- Develop capabilities in and lead the team to effectively drive strategic sourcing, including advanced RFPs and demand/specifical optimization
- Develop procurement strategies and advise management and requesting stakeholders in associated approaches and processes
- Negotiate contracts commercially and legally, with a balanced risk approach
Optimizing processes
- Optimize workflow that will expedite operational procurement; engage with stakeholders to ensure processes meet their needs and monitor effectiveness
- Leverage gen AI wherever possible to ensure team focuses on strategic work over tactical work
**Qualifications**
- 8+ years of relevant working experience in an indirect purchasing related domain(s), preferably with a some in IT (e.g. Software), thereof 4+ years with disciplinary leadership experience
- MBA/Master's Degree (preferred)
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and ability
- Ability to operate both strategically, tactically and operationally in a fast-pace
