**Ph.D. position (all genders welcome)**

in the field of bioinspired metal-mediated O- and N-functionalization of organic substrates. The position is remunerated with 50 % **E 13 TV-L**with a limited contract of 3 years. The earliest starting date will be 01.09.2025.

**Your profile**
- you hold (or are in the process of concluding) a Master’s degree in Chemistry,
- you have very good English language skills,
- you are willing to work in an international team,
- you have a solid background in modern coordination chemistry and bioinorganic chemistry
- you are experienced in organic ligand synthesis and in the synthesis of air sensitive transition metal complexes using Schlenk techniques or gloveboxes,
- you have good knowledge about spectroscopic methods for characterizing transition metal complexes and their electronic structures
- you have some experience in kinetic and mechanistic studies

The successful applicant will develop organometallic analogs of bioinorganic functional units and will use them for dioxygen activation and catalytic substrate conversion. The work includes innovative ligand design, complex chemical syntheses, and the comprehensive characterization of bioinspired iron complexes. In addition, detailed spectroscopic investigations of reactive high-valent intermediates as well as mechanistic studies of iron-mediated O- and N-functionalization reactions of organic substrates will be carried out.

We will provide a stimulating research environment in a diverse and interdisciplinary team as well as first-class facilities. Participation in the DFG research unit 5215 “Bioinspired Oxidation Catalysis with Iron Complexes” is planned. PhD students will be enrolled in the Chemistry program of the Georg-August University School of Science (GAUSS) and will benefit from a wide variety of training courses.
