Tasks

As Lead Data Scientist / Machine Learning Expert (M/F/d) you drive innovation forward and use state-of-the-art machine learning and statistical models to improve risk scoring, fraud detection and decision making at the core of our risk management system.
- You mentor, motivate and coach a team of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers
- You teach, lead, and counsel colleagues on R&D projects in the area of machine learning for fraud prevention, credit risk scoring, buyer identification and risk decision optimization
- You collaborate with other Team Leads and Product Managers within the risk tribe in strategies to enhance our risk management capabilities and to design Ratepay's risk engine as an machine learning based product
- You define and deliver the long term and short term vision of the Data Science team

**Requirements**:

- You have a Master’s degree (PhD is a plus) in a quantitative field such as Machine learning, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer science or similar
- You have a sound theoretical knowledge of a wide variety of Machine learning and Statistical methods (Classical ML, Deep Learning, and Active learning) as well as its pros-cons; strong coding skills in Python and SQL are a must
- As a critical and strategic thinker, who understands complex problems quickly and who uses available evidence to come up with solutions you have the ability to identify the best modelling approach and methods suitable for a problem
- Your strong communication skills in English make it easy for you to explain complex matters in simple terms to team members and stakeholders
- You thrive in cross-functional teams and can get yourself up to speed quickly
- You are a genuine team player, who puts their purpose first
