Head of Information Security

We are looking for a Head of Information Security (all genders) for our Information Security team in the heart of buzzing Berlin

As the Head of Information Security, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of all organizational information resources. You will lead the development and implementation of the company-wide information security strategy and programs. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities and deep knowledge of information security frameworks and regulations as well as solid technical knowledge.

**You will**:

- Craft and execute a comprehensive scalable information security strategy that aligns with the organization's objectives and mitigates the top company risks associated with information security.
- Further develop, enhance and scale the existing information security management system covering all relevant aspects of Babbel.
- Manage the information security budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and justifying expenditures on security measures and tools.
- Lead and develop the information security team, providing direction and resources necessary for the aligned strategy.
- Design, run and manage information security related projects
- Further strengthen a security mindset and culture across the organization
- Work with service providers to ensure that our data is managed securely
- Communication with colleagues across all levels to promote information security as well as resonate and align security measures. Tailored on-point communication with senior management and the executives, reporting on risks, successes, and changes in the information security landscape.
- Collaborate with other teams such as legal, infrastructure, internal IT, etc.
- Participate in information security relevant due diligence activities
- Strengthen Babbels information security and data compliance culture

- Communication Skills: You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex security risks and defenses to stakeholders following a structured and appealing storyline. Convincing reasoning for required security measures across all levels.
- Knowledge of Industry Regulations: You have an understanding of the industry standards regarding information security (esp. ISO27001, NIST 800-53, NIST CSF) as well as regulations (e.g. PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA) ensuring compliance and avoiding legal repercussions.
- Risk Management: You are skilled in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks to ensure business continuity and information security.
- General understanding of technical security measures (e.g. encryption, IAM, OAuth, firewalls, network access control lists, etc.)
- Ownership mindset for tasks: You take end-to-end responsibility for a task from idea/start to finish
- Prioritization which helps you focus on the most important and urgent tasks which have relevant impact
- Fluency in written and spoken English (incl. technical terminology)
- You have a broad understanding and knowledge of all Information Security areas
