**Computational Biology Strategist (M/F/d)**

Computational Biology Strategist responsible for proposing and guiding strategic cross-functional initiatives for novel targets, patient enrichment biomarkers, early detection, or technological innovations in Translational Sciences Oncology. Regular initiation, management and leadership of innovative research projects and/or internal/external collaborations or networks that impact the Oncology portfolio. Influences portfolio stage-gate decision making by using empirical evidence. Corrals extremely complex or ambiguous problems, identifying sub problems that will lead to larger solutions. Sets computational biology strategy by understanding advantages and limitations of key data sources, and their influence on model and product development. Subject matter expert, often suggesting approaches for others and influencing parties outside of the company. Leverages an extensive network of colleagues throughout the company in successfully implementing cross-functional solutions and improvements.

**YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Responsible for leading cross-disciplinary initiatives within Translational Sciences Oncology
- Lead the identification, definition and resolution of unique problems at all levels within the organization
- Contribute to the development of translational sciences and computational biology strategy and roadmap for the company
- Provide novel and complex data science solutions, and champions new ideas and methodologies internally and externally; drive the solution approach for solving unique problems at all levels within the organization (local and Global level)
- Utilizes broad methodologies in assessing key areas for innovation; advocate for championing innovative ideas and approaches; establish external partnerships to support an ecosystem of innovation in the organization
- Create innovative ways of aggregating complex data sets into a useful compilation for analysis
- Responsible for guiding others (direct or indirect), identifies technical gaps, applies data science acumen to unsolved business goals, prioritizes and allocates resources
- Leading scientific personnel (post-docs, master or PhD students, etc), technical personnel and giving guidance to (junior) Bioinformatics Research Scientists
- Coordination of interfaces between several TRGs, Clin. Sciences, Statistics, Phamacometrics and IT functions
- Create strong partnership with universities, institutions and other external entities to strengthen Bayer position and to develop the entire Data Science community

**WHO YOU ARE**
- Bachelor’s degree with very long-term experience or master’s degree with long-term experience or PhD degree with several years of experience in Sciences (Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Informatics, or other related quantitative discipline) with very strong computational focus
- Several years of experience in drug discovery / pharma
- Highly self-motivated, highly responsible, keen interest to develop field further, striving for scientific excellence and to exceed goals regularly, result-oriented
- Wanting to develop further; showing evidence of life-long learning to advance.
- Very strong analytical thinking and scientific rigor; clearly favouring systematic approaches
- Capability to present even very complex issues clearly and convincingly to project teams or decision bodies
- Demonstrate ability to deliver presentations to broad audiences across functions
- Expert level of proficiency in computational skills, including a deep understanding of advanced analytics techniques and emerging forms of analytics
- Demonstrates advanced business acumen, people and project leadership competencies, and technical expertise
- Strong communication competencies to include presentations and delivery of complex quantitative analyses in a clear, concise, and actionable manner to broad audiences and key stakeholders across multiple functions
- Clear leadership and advanced soft skills even beyond own team; experience in leading collaborations
- Fluent in English
