The Terrestrial Microbiology lab is affiliated with the institute
for Plant Sciences and the Cluster of Excellence on Plant
Sciences (CEPLAS) at the University of Cologne. We study
molecular mechanisms of plant-microbe interactions with
a focus on biotrophic fungal pathogens, in particular smut
project on the functional characterization of fungal transac
- tivating effectors (TAEs). We invite highly motivated candi
- dates with expertise in molecular plant pathology, microbial

leaf pathogens by using the Ustilago maydis

pathogens

**YOUR PROFILE**
**»**MSc degree in Biology or a related field, with document
- ed expertise in molecular plant-microbe interactions
**»**Experience in fungal genetics, fluorescence imaging,

and transcriptome data analysis
**»**Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
**»**Strong interest in molecular plant-microbe interactions
