For our Unit **Pricing - P&C International** we are seeking to appoint a **Working student (d/f/m) Data Science / AI** based in our Cologne office starting as soon as possible.

**Your Role**

As part of a cross-functional team that includes Property-Casualty and Life reinsurance, you will collaborate closely with our Analytics team to provide support for our Data Science and AI projects. These projects will involve an exploration phase to gain a better understanding of the problem, as well as the development and implementation of various models and methods to arrive at concrete solutions for specific issues. Your primary responsibilities will include:

- Loading, cleaning, visualizing, and understanding data (EDA) is one part of your role.
- You will build reliable and reproducible data pipelines.
- You will use various statistical approaches such as GLMs up to modern machine learning and AI approaches.
- By developing and implementing generative AI use cases you will contribute to AI initiatives.
- Writing functions and packages to automate various tasks is also included in your area of responsibility.
- You will also assist the team in communicating and presenting the results in various formats.

**Your Profile**
- You are currently enrolled in an advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree program in mathematics, computer science, economics, finance, natural sciences or a similar degree.
- You have good knowledge of the programming language R. Experience with the packages tidyverse, data.table, httr2, shiny, targets or similar is an advantage.
- You have a keen interest in learning new techniques and methods. Analytical thinking and the ability to find pragmatic solutions are among your strengths.
- A basic understanding of the fields of AI such as LLMs, prompt engineering, chaining, structured outputs, etc.
- It is an advantage if you have experience working with git, SQL, Quarto, typst, bash or Python.
- You are flexible, good at communicating and you like working in a team.
- You have a very good command of English, as a large part of the work will be carried out in English.
