The Institute of Organic Chemistry in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a

**Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L)**:
commencing on 1 February 2026. We are offering a fixed-term part-time position (50%) for 3 years. Full time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

**Your tasks**:

- Collaboration in research and teaching
- Stereo-controlled synthesis of complex, bioactive polyenes
- Kinetic analysis of reaction mechanisms
- Spectroscopic characterisation and detailed conformational analysis
- Evaluation of the physiochemical properties of the new compounds
- Development of automated methods to facilitate synthesis

This position is tied to working towards a doctorate qualification.

**Our expectations**:

- A degree in chemistry (master’s or equivalent) is necessary for this position.
- Experience in multistep synthesis and fluorination chemistry is also requirement.
- The ability to fully characterise small organic molecules using standard techniques (e.g. NMR and mass spectrometry) is also essential.
- Good command of written and spoken English is essential.
- German language skills are not required but the desire to learn would be advantageous.
- A solid foundation in physical organic chemistry and an interest in reaction mechanisms would be advantageous.
