**Your department**:
The “Financial Reporting Global Markets” department is responsible for monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reporting of the “Markets” segment according to IFRS and the analysis and explanation of the key financial figures related to Market activities. Further focus is on development of existing internal controls related to the accounting process. Furthermore, the department provides accounting support in relation to transactions and commercial energy contracts.
- Advise front office in deal structure: Analyse contracts and new business deal proposals, determine the most appropriate accounting treatment (IFRS 9/IFRS15) and valuation method for initial and subsequent measurement in line with IFRS Accounting policies and Group financial reporting requirements.
- Follow up on large and complex contracts on a continuous basis to ensure that fair value changes are correctly reflected, the impact on the financial statements is explained and results are reconciled to risk and internal performance reporting.
- Close financial accounts for Group reporting purposes.
- Represent the Market Operations segment in the Group’s expert accounting team and assist in the preparation of accounting policies, new guidance or update of existing ones with subsequent implementation and roll out to the group.
- Monitor internal controls compliance, identify weaknesses and improve controls in cooperation with the back and middle office.
- Support various project teams, especially in the development of new systems and processes and future ERP system upgrade.
- Advise on other financial matters and ad hoc queries.
- Share knowledge with colleagues of various departments.
**Qualifications**:
- University or technical degree in finance with a focus on accounting or be a certified/qualified accountant.
- Several years experience in financial reporting in an international company / or audit firm. Experience in the energy industry or from a trading environment is preferred but not essential.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS.
- Very good English language skills orally and written, preferably you are also conversant in German.
- You should be a good team player, assisting colleagues where necessary; be comfortable communicating with others and be used to reaching out across departments, countries and cultures to achieve common goals; Experience of working in a matrix function or flat hierarchical organisation is a plus.
- Knowledge in SAP (or similar ERP systems).
