The Food Catalogue team provides machine-learning insights for our Customers, Restaurant Partners and internal stakeholders. We work at the intersection of Nutritional Expertise, Data Science, Data Engineering and Data Analytics, and together, provide the most valuable food predictions to help facilitate data-driven decision-making.

Working with 45 million products in 10+ languages, our mission is to understand and enrich each and every one of those with valuable information for our customers: is this dish vegetarian? How healthy is my order? Is this a Sushi or a Curry dish and from which country is the recipe coming?

**All about the role***

As a Data Scientist within the Food Catalogue team, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring and improving various machine learning models. By achieving this

You will ensure that the business complies with Food Regulations and save customers' life by identifying allergens, vegan dishes or alcoholic beverages of any kind.

You will facilitate our customers' understanding of the food they are ordering: its geographical cuisine, its type of dish, its ingredients

You will support the decision-making process by understanding, enriching and translating a menu from and to any language.

To achieve all of this, we are using different Natural Language Processing techniques including Transformers, Named Entity Recognition, Multi-class and Multi-label text Classification, Topic modelling, Clustering and various embedding techniques.

**In this role, you will have the opportunity to**:

- Build, maintain and improve our machine learning models and infrastructure for a fast, trustworthy and reliable data science lifecycle at scale
- Define and implement success metrics in close collaboration with product owners, Data engineers, Data analytics and other relevant stakeholders.
- Carry out data deep-dives to discover insights about food items, food trends and order behaviorand provide data-driven recommendations to the product owner and various business stakeholders
- Communicate those insights to peers and stakeholders, both verbally and visually
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Domain Experts in daily work to ensure the quality and availability of our data insights

**Can you deliver ***

Here are the skills and experience we need from you:

- Proficient in Natural Language Processing, preferably Text classification, Language models, Neural machine translation or Named Entity Recognition
- Strong understanding of techniques like word embeddings, transformers and familiarity with at least one of the following: Pytorch, Keras, Spacy, Fasttext
- Good command of MLOPs and software development best practices (e.g. experiment management, testing, code-, data
- and model-versioning as well as code reviews)
- Strong Python and SQL skills with emphasis on data wrangling and data analysis, including proficiency with industry standard packages such as Pandas, Scikit-Learn and NumPy
- Experienced with Cloud computing and model deployment, including tools like Docker, GCP, Vertex AI, Sagemaker, EC2, etc.
- Ability to explain statistical concepts and guide decision-makers on the interpretation of results, both written and verbally
- Experience with data visualization libraries and software such as Matplotlib, seaborn, Tableau etc.
