What you’ll do & Who you are About the team: We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist (d/f/m) to join our central data science team in Berlin, focusing on Search and Ranking tools. You will report to the Head of Data Science, collaborate with all data scientists across the company and work closely with the search product team, whose mission is to create a holistic and seamless search experience for our users. We offer a flexible working environment, with the expectation of in-person office presence once/twice a week (or as required for product team appointments). What You'll Do: As a Senior Data Scientist, you will personalize and improve the search experience across our platforms. Your main responsibilities include: - Machine Learning Development: Design and deploy models to optimize search and ranking for a seamless user experience.- Data Insights: Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and create actionable solutions for business challenges.- Proof-of-Concepts: Build and validate POCs for innovative features and present their value to stakeholders.- Cross-functional collaboration: Work with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to align on search goals.- Performance Optimization: Monitor and refine search algorithms for scalability and efficiency.- Mentorship: Guide and support junior data scientists, driving best practices and team growth. Who you are: - 3+ years of experience working with ML: Proficiency in designing, training, and deploying machine learning models, particularly for search, ranking, and recommendation systems.- Programming Skills: Advanced experience with Python (preferred) or R, along with expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases for data processing and analysis.- Cloud Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, including deploying and managing machine learning solutions in production.- Data Science Toolkit Mastery: Solid knowledge of frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.- Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to translate complex business challenges into data science problems and develop impactful solutions.- Collaboration and Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and complex insights to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding.- Agile Mindset: Experience working in agile environments (e.g., Scrum or Kanban) and contributing to iterative product development processes.
