We develop electronic and optoelectronic devices and systems based on modern micro **What you will do** You will be taking on the role of Head of Business Areas, which at the moment encompasses five business units and topics: High Frequency Electronics, Power Electronics, Infrared Detectors, Semiconductor Lasers und Quantum Systems. You will be coordinating the work of our Marketing & Communications department and cooperating with the heads of our academic departments. A later promotion to Deputy Head of the Institute is possible. Your tasks in detail: - You will lead our „Business Units" and be responsible for its strategic orientation towards seminal and sustainable research topics and cooperation. - Accordingly you will be taking care of the development of our business areas as a whole and the therein encompassed project situation at Fraunhofer IAF and develop an overarching strategy. You will be taking care to take a prospective, strategic and efficient project development perspective. - Furthermore, your tasks include the acquisition of new research projects and networks both from public and private clients. - You will lead our research projects on the national and international level and build and develop networks. - You will also develop new business models and organize training activities on different levels. **What you bring to the table** - You have acquired a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, semiconductor technology, quantum technology, optoelectronics or a similar specialization with very good results. - Ideally, you already bring profound expertise and experience in the above listed business areas with you. - You have solid practical insight into the overall organization and management of projects, including project planning, especially in the context of a clean room operation and/or of big research projects. - It is essential that you have already led public and industrial research projects, so that you have a working network of diverse contacts with industrial, public and academic partners. - You show strong initiative and motivation are a team player with high communication skills. - You have a very good knowledge of German and/or English, are willing to travel and have a driver’s license. **What you can expect** - A modernly equipped and internationally shaped working environment with room for independent and creative working. - A position of responsibility in which you can excel both with your academic and organizational qualities. - Interdisciplinary cooperation with our academic departments and our marketing department. - Exchange with our colleagues at Fraunhofer and at Universities. - The opportunity to benefit from our further training and professional development programs as well as the participation at international conferences. - Extensive Benefits such as a company pension scheme, a cheaper ticket for public transportationas well as several health services for improving your fitness. - A family-friendly workplace with services for the compatibility of family and work.
