The following position is to be filled in the Department of Political Science at University Trier as of 1 April 2025 as a temporary civil servant: W1 Junior Professorship for Political Science/ Specialising in Empirical Democracy Research (with tenure track according to W 3) (LBesG) (M/F/d) Should the requisite qualifications for a tenured position not be met, the position may be filled on a salaried basis. The appointee will represent the area of research and teaching specified in the dedication. This junior professorship is intended for early-career academics who have demonstrated exceptional potential for a future career in academia. Applicants are expected to demonstrate their outstanding research potential through their dissertation and initial academic publications. A specialisation in empirical democracy research, with a focus on the concepts and phenomena of democratic development in the present, is required. Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate a research specialisation in the field of the "Political System of the Federal Republic of Germany". A specialisation in party research should be evident. Furthermore, a specialisation in political science methods would be an advantage. In their capacity at the university, the post holder will represent the discipline of political science in the Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral degree programmes in which the department is involved. In addition, the post holder will be expected to undertake research, teaching and administrative duties at the Trier Institute for Democracy and Party Research. It is expected that the applicant will have teaching experience in political science. A research/activity profile that demonstrates the ability to collaborate across disciplines, to work on interdisciplinary and international research projects, and to develop externally funded projects is advantageous.
