The following position is to be filled in the Department of Political Science at University Trier as of 1 October 2025 as a temporary civil servant: W1 Junior Professorship for Political Science/ Specialising in European Policy and Governance (with tenure track according to W 2) (LBesG) (M/F/d) Should the requisite qualifications for a tenured position not be met, the position may be filled on a salaried basis. The appointee will represent the area of research and teaching specified in the dedication. This junior professorship is intended for early-career academics who have demonstrated exceptional potential for a future career in academia. The junior professorship is co-funded by the Franco-German University as part of the "Franco-German Professorships" programme. It is dedicated to establishing and consolidating Franco-German research and teaching cooperation between the University of Trier and the French partner, Sciences Po Grenoble - UGA. Applicants should have demonstrated an outstanding research potential through their dissertation and initial academic publications in high-ranking journals and/or with renowned book publishers. A European Studies specialisation in the field of European politics and governance is required. Research and publications in the field of Franco-German relations within the framework of the European Union and/or in the field of Franco-German comparisons are desirable. The post holder must be fluent in French and German. In teaching, the post holder will represent political science at the Trier site in the Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral programmes in which this discipline is involved and will be responsible for the English - language Master's programme "European and East Asian Politics and Governance". At the partner university Sciences Po Grenoble-UGA, the post holder will teach on the English-language Master's programme "Gouvernance européenne". For the first three years, teaching will alternate between the Universities of Trier and Grenoble. A research/activity profile that demonstrates the ability to work on interdisciplinary and international research projects and to develop own externally funded projects is advantageous.
