Professor (W3) of Neurodegeneration (f/m/d) no management responsibilities As a maximum-care hospital with 29 clinics, 16 institutes and 1,274 beds, Ulm University Hospital covers the entire spectrum of university healthcare. As the largest hospital between East Württemberg, the Swabian Alb, Lake Constance and the Allgäu region, the University Hospital treats around 50,000 inpatients and almost 300,000 outpatients every year. Together with the University and Rehabilitation Clinics Ulm (RKU), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University Hospital, patients in the region can be offered integrated care from a single source with direct access to rehabilitation medicine. The focus of the professorship is to strengthen translational research on neurodegenerative diseases with a focus on motor neuron diseases, neurogenetics, genomics, precision medicine or systems medicine, as well as clinical-translational research. The position holder will work closely with the Ulm site of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and the DZNE study structures. Active participation in the German ALS/MND network is expected. In addition, cooperation with existing research focuses of the clinic and the Faculty of Medicine, in particular in interdisciplinary network projects with the other focus areas (trauma and ageing) are expected. Teaching duties include courses in neurology, in particular motor neuron diseases and other neurogenetic diseases, for students of human medicine, molecular medicine and the English-language Master's program in Molecular and Translational Neuroscience. Active participation in horizontal and vertical networking in the clinical section of the Human Medicine degree program as well as active participation in the establishment and implementation of new teaching concepts is expected. Employment requirements are completed university studies as well as teaching aptitude, a doctoral degree and further pertinent scientific achievements (- 47 LHG) and recognition as a specialist in neurology.
