German Legal Counsel

**Berlin Office | Hybrid Working (3-days week in the office) | Full-Time Permanent Role**

**About the Role**

We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel, qualified in German law, to join our rapidly growing Berlin office. This role will support Trailstone's European renewable energy business on a wide variety of transactional, commercial and regulatory matters.

This will be a full-time permanent role in the Trailstone Legal Department, owning the following responsibilities:

- Working closely with, and becoming a trusted legal advisor to, the European renewables business to drive positive business results.
- Providing day-to-day legal advice and counsel on a wide range of commercial transactions in the field of renewable energy, including;
- negotiating PPAs
- direct marketing agreements
- balancing services agreements
- non-disclosure agreements
- and other structured transactions
- Conducting research into a variety of legal issues, providing legal analysis and counsel to business leaders that anticipates and helps mitigate legal risks.
- Working cross-functionally with business teams (Compliance, Regulatory, Tax, Credit/Treasury, Risk) to take deals across the finish line while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Collaborating closely with the other members of Trailstone Legal Department to constantly improve our processes and best practices.
- Interfacing with outside counsel on significant transactions, regulatory matters, and disputes.

**About You**

This person will be an experienced lawyer, fluent in both German & English, with a demonstrated record of negotiating complex transactions and strategically solving problems. In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following:
**Requirements**:

- Fully licensed to practice law in Germany (Volljurist). Strong first and second legal state examination (mindestens befriedigend).
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant legal experience, at least partially with a major law firm, energy trader, corporate legal department or government agency.
- Relevant transactional experience in the renewable energy industry in Germany.
- High-quality fact-finding, drafting, negotiating, writing and research skills.
- Excellent analytical skills, impeccable attention to detail, strong sense of ownership, initiative and accountability.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, and in collaboration with others to get deals across the finish line.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience managing competing expectations, being nimble, prioritising effectively and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated business acumen and credibility to inspire confidence among internal clients.
