At the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences II, Institute of Mathematics is

seeking, to fill the temporary position of a_ _

Scientific assistant / PhD student (m-f-x)

In part time (50%) at the earliest possible date. The position will be limited for three years.

The salary will be up to Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L, if the personal requirements and tasks are fulfilled.

**Responsibilities**:

- mathematical analysis and partly numerics of nonlinear partial differential equations, e.g., Maxwell

equations, describing nonlinear waves
- active collaboration on research projects in the area of analysis
- teaching duties in mathematics, in particular in exercise classes in analysis

The position offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD degree.

Prerequisites:

- completed university degree (master, diploma or equvalent) in mathematics with higher-than-average

grades and a high quality of the thesis
- good knowledge of partial differential equations
- knowledge of scientific software, e.g. MATLAB
- experience with hyperbolic or dispersive equations is of advantage
- fluency in English or German
- good abilities in team work, communication and organizational tasks
