You will work as a member of the hardware development team in our Optics R&D Center on the Air Campus in Nuremberg. **What you will learn and contribute to**

We are currently looking for highly motivated professionals to join our team, who possess a solid understanding of physical/mechanical design, to shape the future of optical data transmission. As a Junior Physical designer for HW development you will be part of the hardware development team in Nuremberg, embedded in a worldwide Optical Research and Development organization.Your main responsibilities will be in design and qualification of mechanical components for optical switching systems in close collaboration with many
different other internal and external partners. Detailed job description/main activities consists of:

- Contribution to system architecture investigations and feasibility studies in close collaboration with system engineering and architecture
- Definition of system physical architecture
- Mechanical design of complete racks, shelves and installation kits
- Mechanical design of components for optical switching systems
- Design of mechanical components for PCBAs
- Qualification and release of mechanical components
- Provision of production data towards PDM system
- Support of electrical HW development and thermal simulation
- Support prototype production at EMS
- Support customer documentation
- Support product management and field support in customer interactions
- Collaborate with vendors
- Close collaboration with other Nokia teams worldwide

**Your skills and experience**
- Bachelor or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Excellent knowledge and experience in mechanical design techniques and tools (e.g. Pro/Engineer)
- Know how and experience in material properties and processing technologies
- Experience in design and manufacturing of sheet metal parts, aluminum extrusions, die cast and injection molded parts
- Comprehensive knowledge of international standards and norms
- Good communication skills
- Fluent German & English both spoken and written
- Strong interest in collaboration with international partners
- Ability to work independently and self-organized
- High personal flexibility to provide high quality results in a challenging environment.
