TEXAID is the leading company for têxtile recycling in Europe today. With about 1'100 employees we collect, sort, and process more than 80'000 tons of têxtile waste in our own sorting and manufacturing plants in Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Spain as well as in the US. The têxtile industry contributes a sizeable share of annual global GHG emission, making it a vital area in the fight against climate change. By giving a second life to têxtiles through re-use or recycling, TEXAID plays a key role in de-carbonizing the industry’s footprint and transforming têxtiles into a more sustainable resource. Furthermore, the têxtile circularity industry is at the start of a seismic shift elicited by several major forces: - Changes in regulations which demand raising collection and intra-European têxtile waste management (e.g., sorting, reuse, recycling) - Technology advancements which make both sorting and têxtile-to-têxtile recycling economical and scalable - Growing secondhand market and raising consumer demand increasing the resale value pool With years of experience and our expertise and strength lying at the core of têxtile circularity, we will leverage these opportunities to build the next green business unicorn. Until 2030, we will make TEXAID the European leader in têxtile circularity with the ambition to scale our business >10x. This we will realize by expanding our collection & sorting footprint and investing in next generation technology to boost sustainable têxtile use. Texaid’s Retail business unit operates one of the largest secondhand clothing chains in Germany with 60+ stores and online shops across 4 brands (ReSales, Vintage Revival, McVintage and Carou) **For our German HQ in Darmstadt we are looking for a**: **HEAD OF RETAIL (M**/**W**/**D)** Overview: As Head of Retail, you will play a critical role in driving our ambitious strategy towards building TEXAID into the European leader in têxtile circularity. Acting in close collaboration with the CEO and the management board you will steer our Retail business unit, which is embarking on a long and exciting expansion journey. Your Responsibilities: - Lead the retail organization with 60+ stores, responsible for the business unit strategy incl. execution and financial performance - Spearhead rapid expansion of new stores in Germany and beyond - Build up a dedicated expansion team with standardized processes to rapidly screen, approve and open new store locations, as well as manage an expanding portfolio of existing stores - Establish a Retail Center of Excellence driving performance orientation and continuous improvements across the store network (e.g., pricing, commercial analytics, marketing, online etc.) - Closely collaborate with the Texaid sorting business unit to optimize merchandise management (as sorting plants act as product supplier to stores), using analytics-based customer insights - Establish a transparent KPI-based performance tracking of stores (e.g., revenue per m2, average turnover time, etc.) and regularly present results to management board - Establish retail brand strategy and oversee deployment of marketing initiatives of retail stores - Hire, lead, motivate, and grow a multidisciplinary team of country / regional managers; provide coaching, performance management, and guidance that encourages growth within the team and collaboration across Texaid What we expect of you: - 10+ years of experience in customer facing-industries (e.g., retail, fashion, CPG or similar), covering a commercial role - 5+ years of experience in management of teams and P&L responsibility, experience with expansion of store network is a strong plus - Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, marketing, public relations or similar - Strong people leadership and business acumen, additional business education (e.g., MBA) is beneficial - Experience establishing and executing business/investment cases, and managing budgets - Strong track record of successfully managing financial performance of a customer-facing business unit - Ambition to work in a sustainability-oriented business, and making a positive impact - Strong drive to get an intricate understanding of TEXAIDs business with the interplays and interfaces of the business units and external stakeholders - Ability to lead and facilitate teams and resolve conflicts - highly proficient in spoken and written German What we offer you: - Attractive working conditions in a dynamic and growing sustainable business - Interesting and challenging projects allowing you to take responsibility with room for leadership - Close contact and engagement with the seasoned leadership - Interesting growth opportunities within our expanding company to boost your career - Attractive compensation with above-average contributions to occupational pension plans Are you interested?
