We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel with a focus on Commercial Law who wants to shape and guide the future of digital language learning from a legal perspective.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal support to the Babbel Group in Berlin and New York on all legal matters with a focus on Commercial Law. You will be a key member of the Legal Department, working closely with the Finance Department and other departments such as People & Organization, Marketing, Customer Service or Product.

**What you will do**:

- Drafting and negotiating contracts with external partners as well as supporting various departments in preparing for respective contract negotiations in German and English.
- Providing legal advice to all departments and the management in various legal areas such as commercial law, unfair competition, IT law, data protection law, consumer law, copyright and media law
- Drafting, designing and conducting employee training on various areas of law (e.g., competition law)

**You have**:

- Education as a fully qualified German lawyer (1st and 2nd state exams) or comparable education preferably with above average results
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience as a fully qualified lawyer, ideally fully or partially as in-house counsel and with experience in German law
- Excellent communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills, as well as the ability to develop practical legal solutions to complex issues
- A hands-on mentality and enjoy working independently
- A sense of humor and common sense
- An international professional orientation, as evidenced by relevant international experience or work experience in an international environment
- Relevant experience in business law with a demonstrated focus in one of the following areas of law: General Commercial Law, Competition Law (unfair competition), Copyright and Media Law, IP/IT Law
- Fluency in both German and English (oral and written)
