Master Thesis Estimation of Mixed Joint States with

**What you will do**
Motion Capture Systems based on Inertial Measurements Units (IMUs) can measure the orientation of the human bodies joints. These systems are widely used in posture analysis, film shooting and clinical assessment of the motion. Human joints like the knee are no ideal rotational joints, but also allow translations. The translational movements are valuable for clinicians to diagnose and rate injuries of the joint.
In this thesis, we aim for a joint model to estimate rotational and translational motion of simple joints based on IMU measurements. It will be a step towards quantitative assessment of joint injuries.
**What you bring to the table**
- Student of Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Medical Engineering, Math, or similar field of study
- Experience with programming in C++, Python or Matlab
- Knowledge of mathematical modelling and stochastics
- Optional: Experience with IMUs or Pose Estimation
