Student Assistant Biodegradable Metal Implants

**What you will do** Biodegradable metals have been of great interest in different fields of biomedical practice. For the device to demonstrate the desired functionality, various criteria regarding materials, design approaches, and manufactur-ing methods must be met. Additive manufacturing (AM) has demonstrated promise in the field of biomedical practice by creating the feasibility of realizing complex designs from a wide range of materials. The focus of this project is to design and optimize the fabrication methods for developing such implants by combining material selection, AM process optimization, post-process methods and characterizations. In the working group "Powderbed Technologies and Printing" we are looking to support a motivated and talented diploma or master student for our project. The internship mainly relies on establishing experimental methods but some theoretical work might be included. **What you bring to the table** - Studying Engineering or Material Science with intermediate diploma (Vordiplom) in mechanical, manufacturing, material science, or metallurgy - Good knowledge of experimental design methods and CAD - Basic knowledge of materials, manufacturing (knowledge of additive manufacturing is an asset), characteriza-tions, and testing - Basic knowledge in programming, machine learning or data science is desirable but not necessary - An independent, structured, and reliable way of working with interest in conducting interdisciplinary research **What you can expect** - A challenging and interesting job in a dynamic and multidisciplinary work environment - The opportunity of being engaged in one of the leading areas of advanced manufacturing and contributing to the development of the next generation of biomedical implants - Working with state of the art technology - Analysis and evaluation of the achieved results in the team Remuneration according to the general works agreement for employing assistant staff.
