**R&D Global Unit Lead (M/F/d)**:

Responsible for conceptualization, identification, exploration and implementation of world leading technologies, products, and systems within BL Metals. Coordinates at various management levels as well as with external partners in order to enhance and secure ABB Metals global position and profitability in the medium and long term. Ensures delivery of results, fosters innovation, and strategically develops and secures R&D capabilities with a cost-effective footprint.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Manages activities in R&D project portfolio based on extensive own background and experience. Is the senior global spokesperson for the appropriate level of business management (BL/division/BA) as well as external parties, e.g. to facilitate resolution of technology and quality issues within and across organizations.
- Defines strategic direction for R&D and technology in own area of responsibility and develops, presents, and evolves strategic technology/product/system roadmaps. Contributes technology components to the creation and execution of BL Metals strategies. Ensures the alignment of business strategies and R&D plans.
- Develops, secures, and facilitates the innovation process, and ensures key performance indicators (KPIs) are in place, tracked and continuously improved upon. Supports and challenges local units to create an innovative culture. Actively seeks new opportunities and solutions through collaboration internally (e.g. CRCs) and externally.
- Drives, influences, and facilitates cooperation around technologies, market standards and guidelines important to the business. Stays on top of strategic technology, customer, and market developments to provide guidance to business management. Orients the R&D organization towards global business priorities, guidelines, and constraints.
- Ensures information flow and transfer of technology and knowledge among all relevant parts of the organization. Sets up and maintains channels for sharing knowledge and state-of-the-art developments from different sources (locally and globally, within and across organizations).
- Represents the technology function towards customers and internal/external stakeholders. Builds, develops, and maintains trust-based long-term relationships with internal and external contacts on a strategic level. Ensures areas of common interest with other ABB businesses are addressed in a collaborative way to achieve maximum efficiency and value for ABB. Oversees appropriate participation from ABB in relevant global technical organizations. Promotes visibility of ABB's R&D and supports marketing and promotional activities (employer branding).
- Drives the creation of IP strategies together with IPSO, sets targets and follows them up. Ensures that legal contracts for IP, license agreements, NDAs etc. are beneficial for ABB and consistent with CHTET procedures. Oversees management of risks and that appropriate consideration is given to IP issues when collaborating with other parties. Responsible for managing and mitigating IP issues in collaboration with IPSO and Legal.
- Coordinates and adapts R&D investments with business management according to business strategies. Derives and approves system line and/or local budgets for BL, division and/or BA and ensures that results enabling ROI are reached. Manages CHTET costs and profits for own area of responsibility in line with ABB's overall targets.
- Strategically develops and secures R&D capabilities with a cost-effective footprint and the right balance between internal and external resources. Ensures that HR people processes are implemented globally and in line with local regulations and potential successors to key positions exist. - Relevant professional experience in the field of rolling mills
- Well-founded specialist knowledge in modeling, simulation and control
