Chief Operating Officer

Job description
We are currently seeking a **Chief Operating Officer **to manage the financial and operational functions of Climate Analytics and to lead the global operations team. This senior management level position reports to the CEO and is a key member of the Executive Management Team. The COO is responsible for the smooth running of the organisation’s operations and financial management, including the provision of related advice on strategic and risk related matters to senior management. The place of work is Berlin.

The position needs to foster a global CA perspective for operations in support of the organisation’s programmes and offices, and ensure alignment with the organisation’s objectives and strategy. Key priorities, in partnership with CA stakeholders, include building up and maintaining a solid financial system and developing efficient operational processes that impact the entire organisation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsibility and oversight of all business operations, administration and HR and line management of operation team leads
- Responsibility and oversight of all aspects of financial management, including internal reporting
- Responsible for aligning the budget with the financial needs of the organisational units
- Drive and promote cross organizational processes, procedures and standards
- Strategic planning of operations in line with the needs concerning the organizational growth
- Issue instructions for corporate governance, compliance and processes across CA
- Monitoring and reporting on organisational performance and development to the CEO, the Executive Management Team and the Board
- Working with Head of People Management to promote HR strategy, staff development, contracting processes
- Identifying material risks and opportunities for the organization (e.g. reputational, financial)
- Nurture a harmonic leadership and company culture
- Drive and promote cross organizational processes, procedures and standards
- Hold content teams accountable for delivering all necessary financial inputs in time and quality

**Profile**:
You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:

- Proven staff management capacity and successful track record in management and leading teams
- Proven experience in all aspects of financial management and business operations
- A graduate degree in business, finance or a related discipline
- At least seven years experience in a similar role within international organisations
- Working language is English. Good level of German is desired. Basic French skills are welcome.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills and experience in working effectively in a multi
- cultural environment
- Capacity to work independently and under pressure
- A well-developed sense for team work and ability to interact with a people from different backgrounds
- Willingness to travel
- Interest in the field of climate change
- Preferably experience in operating in a scientific environment
