**Your role**:
Lunar X is seeking a Head of Music to spearhead its music vertical that boast 100 million monthly streams. This role is responsible for all music operations on Lunar X's ambient and lofi brands, including leading creative initiatives to ensure long-lasting, high-quality brands, leading marketing efforts from user-generated content to paid media, identifying and producing top-tier music with producers, and building an engaged community around the brands. The Head of Music will lead a next-generation digital label with 100 million monthly streams on Spotify, developing it into a multimillion-dollar business.

You'll own and optimize our music operations, ensuring an exceptional listener experience. Key responsibilities include driving growth by exploring new genres and passive listening use cases (e.g., studying, gaming, coding), developing innovative promotional strategies across paid and organic channels, and forging partnerships with DSPs, producers, and other creators in the ecosystem. You'll create virtual music artists that resonate with existing and new fans while driving commercial success through data-informed decisions and streamlined operations.

This is a full-time, hybrid role out of our Berlin office. The role offers a competitive salary and bonus, based on years of experience and location. Reporting to the SVP Operations at Lunar X, you'll work closely with Theorist and Lunar X leadership.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Deep Music Understanding:

- Comprehensive knowledge of the music industry's workings, including awareness of trends, risks, opportunities, and how to capitalize on them.
- Familiarity with Digital Service Providers (DSPs)—especially Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube—and music monetization strategies.
- Expertise across music production (commissioning music), distribution (via our distributor RouteNote), and brand building & promotion (scaling virtual artists and brands through organic and ROI-focused paid campaigns).
- Brand Building & Promotion Strategy:

- Develop enduring music IPs and cultivate engaged communities from the ground up.
- Track and optimize key performance indicators (KPIs) such as return on ad spend (ROAS), click-through rate (CTR), and cost per acquisition (CPA). Refine audience targeting and customer journeys based on performance analytics.
- Utilize data-driven insights to streamline workflows and enhance cross-channel marketing initiatives.
- Manage and fine-tune performance marketing campaigns for optimal results.
- Keep pace with emerging digital marketing trends to implement innovative strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
- Music Production Management:

- Manage relationships with B2B partners and oversee the music commissioning process, providing creative direction and feedback on key musical elements, including melody, harmony, and composition.
- Negotiate contracts with composers and producers, ensuring alignment with budget constraints and project timelines.
- Coordinate the music production pipeline, working with internal teams and external freelancers to ensure seamless execution from concept to final delivery.
- Release Management & Distribution:

- Manage the release process, ensuring timely and precise delivery of music to Digital Service Providers (DSPs) like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
- Use insights on streaming economics to strategically position releases, maximizing visibility and revenue through various promotional channels.
- Regularly analyze streaming performance data to identify trends, refine future releases, and create reports for the Lunar X management team.
- Business Acumen:

- Oversee the music division's profit and loss (P&L) statement and manage budgets, making informed, data-driven decisions to optimize marketing and production performance.
- Analyze campaign performance and streaming metrics to provide actionable insights and adapt strategies that align with business objectives.
- Ensure financial integrity and regulatory compliance across all projects and initiatives.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

- Foster strong communication across internal teams to ensure timely project completion and alignment with overall business goals.
- Collaborate with international teams on key music initiatives (e.g., with the Theorist team on LoreFi), ensuring seamless coordination and execution.
- Implement efficient KPI tracking systems in partnership with the data and finance team.
- Market Awareness:

- Monitor industry trends in music, streaming platforms, and digital marketing, implementing innovations to enhance operational excellence & profitability.
- Regularly attend industry events and pursue professional development opportunities to stay current with relevant knowledge and skills.
