**About the role**

As a **Director of Engineering**, you lead a team building, operating new, and maintaining or extending existing software code for our marketing insight platform.

In partnership with Product Owners and other Engineering leaders, you are accountable for delivering engineering commitments on time and quality and always looking to improve productivity and quality. You champion** best engineering practices** and company values as a role model to elevate the maturity of the organization. You align engineering activities and projects with company goals and objectives, providing expert guidance and support, reporting to upper management, and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

While you are **technically credible** and know the details of what engineers work on, you spend your time safeguarding your team's health, supporting and mentoring team members, and putting them in the best position to succeed.

You are accountable for hiring, onboarding, and training new team members, and for your established **team's satisfaction, development, and retention**.

**The role and your impact at the team**
- Line management responsibilities, along with communication with Engineering leaders, HR, and other stakeholders
- Leading, managing, and motivating a team of individual contributors
- Understanding and supporting company, department, project, and team objectives
- Driving product and operational improvements throughout your team
- Challenge and improve existing setups and processes, with a focus on accountable autonomy, process efficiency, automation, self-service, continuous delivery, and quality engineering
- Owns the delivery of critical roadmap items
- Ability to trade-off roadmap delivery vs. technical work
- Scaling the team through hiring and mentoring
- Developing and retaining staff
- Reporting to management
- Implementing best practice engineering methods
- Providing technical guidance to your engineering team
- Finding and implementing ways to improve cost-efficiency
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment between all parties
- Effectively manage and encourage team participation in all aspect of the product life cycle
- Monitor reliability and performance of all internal systems to suggest improvements
- Ensure compliance with security regulations

**You will fit great with the following skills and qualifications**
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering
- 4+ years of experience developing software
- 2+ years of experience managing an engineering team
- Superior interpersonal skills and appreciation for honest feedback and collaborative decision-making
