- The mission of the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is medical translation: transferring biomedical research findings into novel approaches to personalized prediction, prevention, diagnostics and therapies and, conversely, using clinical observations to develop new research ideas. The aim is to deliver relevant medical benefits to patients and the population at large. The BIH was founded in 2013 and is funded 90 percent by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and 10 percent by the State of Berlin. Since 2021 the BIH has been integrated into Charité as its so-called third pillar
- Ph.D. Position in Health Data Privacy (f/m/d)

**Working field**:

- Work independently and as part of a team to solve novel research problems arising from real-world needs in the area of patient-centred privacy.
- Design patient-centric methods and technologies to facilitate the secure sharing of medical data for healthcare and research.
- Close collaboration and exchange with internal and external partners from scientific community, hospi-tal environment, and industry.
- Publication of manuscripts as first author, and presentation of research results at scientific con-ferences.
- Supervision of Bachelor and Master’s level students.

**Requirements**:

- Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: privacy, data protection, usable privacy, or usable security.
- Experience in user-centred research methods.
- Some knowledge of statistical methods is expected and experience of statistical analysis will be an advantage.
- Some legal knowledge in privacy issues, particular-ly in the healthcare context, is considered an asset.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are a must and in German are an ad-vantage.

- Remuneration according to E13 TVöD VKA-K: The grouping takes into consideration the qualifica-tions and the personal circumstances of the candi-date.
- A full-time position (39h/week) / part-time possible.
- Appointment duration: 3 years.
- 30 vacation days per year (with a five-day week) and up to 24 flextime days per year.
- Additional benefits customary in the public sector (e.g. annual bonus, VBL).
