**Job Title: Business Development Representative, CCS Europe**

**Location: Across Europe - remote close to an airport**

**Position Summary**:
In line with the strategic objectives of the CMD European Commercial Indirect Sales Organization, the purpose of this role is to enhance the business potential through increased sustained revenue growth of our Chromatography Consumables and Specialties portfolio in the respective markets by discovering new potential opportunities, with a view to increasing allegiance and sales revenue for Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Business Development Representative uncovers the customer’s interest in our products and drives the Thermo Fisher Scientific value proposition from sample to knowledge.
The role interfaces and works in close collaboration with key members of the CCS and Channel Partner sales teams, CMD Sales and Marketing. A business development manager, will identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow, will work involving careful strategic planning and positioning in the appropriate markets, or enhancing the operation of the business, position or reputation in some way.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Selling Agility**
- Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets
- Seek out the appropriate contact in an organization
- Meet with customers/clients face to face or over the phone
- Foster and develop relationships with customers/clients
- Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these
- Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
- Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes

- Draw up client contracts - depending on the size of company, this task may be completed by someone else or agreements may not be as formal
- Have a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about them
- Ensure staff are on board throughout the organization, and understand the need for change and what is required of them
- Arranging external training where appropriate
- Discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department
- Collaborate closely with the finance team, warehousing and logistics departments as appropriate

- Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world
- Help to plan sales campaigns
- Create a sales pipeline
- Negotiate pricing with customers, and suppliers in some cases

**Minimum Requirements/Qualifications**:

- MS degree in Science, Chemistry or proven experience in a similar role
- Additional MBA/other financial degree preferred
- General management, matrix management and cross functional experience
- Direct experience in a senior sales position within market area
- Understands customer markets, requirements, laboratory processes and methods and regulations within the Pharma & Biopharma market segment
- Strong analytical skills including basic financial understanding
- Demonstrated commitment to the customer focusing on growth
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

**Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria**:

- Experience in Sales Business Development and/or as a strategic account executive or similar skills
- Technical level of experience of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry products.
