The PhD project involves molecular and cellular experimental approaches to investigate how modulation of Ca2+ signalling in cardiac non-myocytes and immune cells (including cardiac macrophages, cardiac fibroblasts) affects cardiac function and remodelling, as well as inflammatory responses. This includes analyses of immune cell infiltration and inflammatory mediator expression in in vivo mouse models of cardiac injury and fibrosis. Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Biosciences, Biotechnology or a related field Strong interest in independent scientific research Very good proficiency in English, both written and spoken Ability to work independently as well as in a team Experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Isolation, culture, and characterization of primary cells, FACS and histological techniques Fluorescence microscopy, Ca2+ imaging, or electrophysiology Molecular biology, biochemical techniques, and gene expression analysis Animal experimentation using disease models A structured PhD training program with close supervision Opportunities for independent and collaborative research Targeted training in state-of-the-art experimental techniques, pharmacology, and drug development (including, if applicable, further qualification as a European-certified Pharmacologist (EuCP) Access to excellent research infrastructure and university facilities Job ticket, company pension plan, and health promotion programs Childcare support and family-friendly services Collectively agreed remuneration (TV-L E13), attractive company pension scheme (VBL) 30 days vacation
