**PhD Position in Development Economics (66.6%) (f/m/d)**
**Job description**: Development economics is a research-intensive focus within economics in Heidelberg. At the South Asia Institute’s Department of Development Economics, we take particular interest in microeconomic aspects of development as well as poverty and inequality. There are numerous opportunities for connecting with related disciplines such as public health, geography, political science and sociology. Through an inter-university cooperation with Mannheim, there is the opportunity to participate in a top-class structured Ph.D. program in economics.
**What we offer**: A two-year fixed-term contract, renewable for another three years. As doctoral student, you are expected to write a dissertation in an area related to the research interests of the Chair and contribute to the Chair’s teaching and mentoring activities (3 hours per week during term time). Participation in Ph.D. courses is expected during the first year. The salary is based on the collective bargaining agreement of the German federal states (TV-L E13).
