(Chicago, IL)Schedule: 10:30a - 7:00p; Monday - Friday; schedule varies depending on program needsPurpose: The Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver provides daily cleaning and maintenance of assigned site/sites and grounds, and to perform tasks as directed by the Childcare Director or Center Director.Responsibilities:Daily TasksClean, dust, and wipe furniture; Empty all waste basketsSweep, mop and disinfect floors; Vacuum RugsClean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks and mirrors using established practices and procedureCheck hand soap, paper towels and tissue dispensersReplace light bulbsClean baseboards, air vent, light fixturesStrip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surfaces floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets pressure washers, high-speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.Spot wash wallsMay shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, entryways, and grounds work (ie: Grass)Monitor and report needs for building or equipment repairsDriving ResponsibilitiesDuring school year pick up youth from various community schools and deliver to Center.Work with Program Manager to create a transportation scheduleAlong with Program Manager establish relationship with school personnelManage the cleanliness of vans weeklyMonitor the vans for routine and emergency maintenance and repairsThis position requires 15-20% of your time to be dedicated to driving between the hours of 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM for pick up and drop off of children, using the agency’s van. Flexibility is key, as driving hours may vary based on operational needs.
