The Role

As R&D Director Germany, you will lead the R&D organization in Germany, collaborating closely with the R&D Director Finland. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all German R&D teams in BioIT, Molecular Biology, Microbial Technology, and Enzyme Technology, comprising 35 R&D technicians and scientists.
  • Developing and further building the German R&D organization to support ABE's growth strategy, focusing on people management, talent management, team development, and hiring.
  • Representing the R&D organization internally and externally.
  • Contributing to shaping the Technology- and Product-Development strategy of the company, translating product portfolio needs into technological capabilities.
  • Implementing Technology- and Product-development strategies in the German R&D organization, ensuring R&D remains 'fit for purpose' and securing required experience and capabilities.
  • Reporting to the Global Director Portfolio Management and R&D.
  • Member of the Strategic Development Leadership Team.

About You

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in R&D/Product development organizations.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships within and beyond the R&D organization.
  • Proven ability to translate business and market needs into technological requirements and product development.
  • Successful track record in industrial biotech R&D, preferably in the enzyme industry.
  • Strong communication skills, fluent in English, German is a plus.
  • International mindset, understanding the importance of collaborating across geographies.
