Postdoctoral Researcher in Evolutionary Genomics of Mammals

The Senckenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung (SGN) is a leading research institution in the field of natural history. Our team is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our working group of Prof. Dr. Axel Janke. The successful candidate will be involved in gene flow, evolutionary, population or phylogenetics to study speciation in mammals at the genomic level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in evolutionary genomics of mammals, focusing on gene flow, evolutionary, population or phylogenetics.
  • Collaborate with the working group of Prof. Dr. Axel Janke to study speciation in mammals at the genomic level.
  • Develop and implement new methods for genome assembly and annotation.
  • Contribute to the development of research projects and proposals.
  • Communicate research findings through publications and presentations.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics or a related field.
  • Strong interest and proven skills in evolutionary, population or phylogenomics.
  • Knowledge in gene-flow analyses and/or drift process is an advantage.
  • Experience in genome assembly & annotation and programming of scripts, R.
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in English.
