Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team at Universität Hamburg. The successful candidate will work on the Ocean Surface Layer Energetics project, focusing on submesoscales and their impact on the surface layer.

About the Project

The Ocean Surface Layer Energetics project aims to understand the dynamics of the oceanic surface mixed layer. The successful candidate will use high-resolution numerical modeling and available observations to evaluate the model results.

Your Responsibilities

The Research Associate will be responsible for academic services in the project, including independent research and further academic qualifications. They will also be part of the "Theoretical Oceanography" working group and the Research Training Group "ENERGY".

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a university degree in a relevant field, experience with Linux/Unix, a script-based language (e.g. Matlab, Python), and ocean modeling. A background in geophysical fluid mechanics would be an advantage.
