Job Opportunity: Strategic Litigation Consultant

TGEU is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Litigation Consultant to support our work in advancing the rights of trans people in Europe and Central Asia. The successful candidate will work closely with our Policy Team, Community Building Team, and Project Manager for Eastern Europe and Central Asia to develop and implement a strategic litigation strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise TGEU on its strategic litigation strategy and implement activities to retain and advance legal protection and recognition for trans people under different legal mechanisms.
  • Conceptualise, draft, and coordinate written submissions to regional or international mechanisms or high-level national courts.
  • Monitor the European Court of Human Rights database and collaborate with TGEU's partner organisations.
  • Support lawyers, paralegals, and activists through information exchange, communication, and organisation of events.
Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written) and ability to work with French legal text.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to trans rights and knowledge of the European human rights framework.
  • High sense of initiative, ability to manage stressful situations, and intersectional understanding in approach of work.
  • At least four years of experience in litigation and legal representation in the wider European area, and at least two years of experience in a national or international organisation or private practice as a lawyer.
