About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Astro Dynamics Engineer to join our team at Telespazio Germany GmbH. As a key member of our Flight Dynamics Division, you will be responsible for supporting the European Space Agency with highly qualified services at the European Operations Control Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, validate, and operate software that applies classical and orbit mechanics solutions on Linux platforms.
  • Develop and maintain software life cycle & documentation.
  • Collaborate with international service teams to provide expertise in orbit determination aspects and related coordinate systems & reference frames.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve operational goals.
  • Contribute to the development of solutions to technical problems in cooperation with customers and other specialists.
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics, or physics.
  • Proficiency in classical and orbit mechanics, including orbit determination aspects and familiarity with related coordinate systems & reference frames.
  • Experience in software development in C++ and Scientific Python, knowledge of scripting languages and Fortran.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with the ESOC environment and experience in MATLAB/SIMULINK, Mathematica, and shell scripting.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in network services and protocols, and Linux system administration.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and work on multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of current and planned ESA missions.
  • Understanding of space debris matters, observation, modelling, mitigation, risk assessment, and space surveillance techniques.
