Game System Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Game System Designer to join our team at GameDuell. As a key member of our game development team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing game systems, including economy and balance rules, to create engaging and rewarding player experiences.

Your primary focus will be on conceptualizing new end-to-end game systems, modeling complex game economies, and ensuring overall game pace and balance. You will work closely with our game design and development team to lay the groundwork and design specifications for other developers to build large sections of game systems or other applications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing game systems, including economy and balance rules
  • Conceptualizing new end-to-end game systems and modeling complex game economies
  • Ensuring overall game pace and balance
  • Collaborating with the game design and development team to design specifications for other developers
  • Providing clear feature documentation, diagrams, calculation models, analyses, wireframes, and/or prototypes

Requirements:

  • Completed university degree in game design, mathematics, psychology, or similar
  • At least 3 years of proven successful work experience in game system design, balancing, pacing & monetization strategies for F2P games
  • Detailed knowledge of the social gaming industry, free-to-play, and virtual goods business models on mobile platforms
  • High ability to understand player motivations and merge them with business needs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Very good analytical gameplay balancing skills
  • Experience with production using a game engine such as Unity or a similar game engine is a plus
  • Fluency in English is required, knowledge of German is an advantage
