Senior Game Designer

We're seeking a highly skilled Game Designer to define the core playing experience for our product, which has the potential to reach millions of users. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing first-party games and other experiences on Soba, as well as heavily influencing Soba's social features and core parts of the experience.
You will own and drive high-level features from planning through design and implementation, be involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle, and solve complex technical problems. Your expertise will be invaluable in shaping the direction of our product and ensuring that it meets the needs of our users.
Key Responsibilities- Design first-party games and build them with Soba tools, collaborating with team members as needed
- Design other parts of the play experience in cooperation with Product and Design teams
- Work with 3rd parties to help them build games for Soba's portfolio
- Contribute to Soba's creation tools roadmap
- Help improve Soba's user-generated games
- Define strategy for Soba's first-party games portfolio (genres, styles, etc)
- Contribute your own ideas on how to enhance the player experience in all parts of the product
- Act on feedback from metrics and users
- Proven experience and deep understanding of various game mechanics across genres
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Resourcefulness and ability to achieve a lot independently, with a strong ability to implement gameplay using tools made by engineers or yourself
- Logical thinking with a high level of attention to detail
- Passion for making and playing games, with a curious and critical approach to understanding why games succeed and fail
- Understanding and experience in building social mechanics in games and/or other products is a significant plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little structure and supervision
- Openness to sharing information and seeking feedback from users and colleagues
- Continuous self-improvement and a shipping mindset
- 5+ years of professional game design experience
- Shipped games from concept to launch
- Experience working with early, fast-iterating product teams is a significant plus
- Right to work in Germany, as we cannot sponsor visas at this point in time
- We offer a flexible WFH policy, but require a presence in Berlin
