About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Technical Service and Development Scientist for Wire & Cable, located in Germany. As a key member of our Technical Service and Development (TS&D) group, you will be responsible for driving innovation and delivering technical solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers in the Wire & Cable market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement products to meet market trends and customer requirements, with a focus on delivering significant value growth through technical differentiation.
- Drive projects that fulfill customer needs and align with our market strategy, leveraging your expertise in cable extrusion converting technology.
- Provide technical support to customers, troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring the successful implementation of new products.
- Interface with technical, engineering, and commercial teams to translate customer needs into product and application development opportunities.
- Identify emerging competitive technology threats and develop solutions to respond to these threats.
- Collaborate with other R&D groups to minimize time-to-market for new products and technologies.
- Collect market opportunities and translate them into technical unmet needs, working with the value chain to drive innovation.
- Create and share effective technical documentation to leverage application and product knowledge.
- Charter new projects with clear descriptions of project scope, timeline, and value assessment.
- Complete development work using the Scientific Method, carrying out literature reviews, formulating technical hypotheses, and providing conclusions and recommendations.
- Keep project documentation up-to-date, featuring basic information such as project scope, definition, timelines, deliverables, milestones, and value assessment.
- Build and maintain an effective external network, including relationships with machinery manufacturers, to facilitate new product developments and implementations.
- Travel as required to support customer needs, while managing expenses within the given travel budget.
Requirements
- Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Sciences, or Polymer technology.
- Fluency in English is a must, and other European languages are a plus. Willingness to learn German is appreciated.
- Experience in cable extrusion, plastics/polymers processing, material characterization, and customer service.
- Knowledge of the Telecom market, including Copper Wire and Fiber Optical Cable.
- Knowledge of Power transmission and flame-retardant technologies is a plus.
- Flexibility to travel within the EMEA region up to 30-40%.
- Other skills and abilities: creativity, curiosity, high technical skills, outstanding team working spirit, leadership, drive to develop innovation, ability to identify and manage resources, willingness to learn and develop oneself.
