About the Role

The Therapeutic Area Manager will play a key role in orchestrating the therapeutic area portfolio strategy for Abbott's Rapid Diagnostics business unit across the EMEA region. This role will report directly into the EMEA Therapeutic Area and Connectivity Lead Infectious Disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and adapt therapeutic area strategy and positioning, build brand plans, and assure the successful roll-out and local strategy alignment.
  • Convey and represent portfolio strategies and tactics, and optimize portfolio mix for EMEA region and on local level. Close collaboration with Regional Marketing Managers to transform portfolio strategy to commercial success.
  • Actively improve therapeutic area product's reasons to believe and integrate these into positioning and tools. Work in project and transversal mode with the sales, medical & scientific affairs, market access, customer service, finance, logistics, and Global & European marketing teams.
  • Work with internal and external agencies as well as internal Marketing Communication Managers to transform therapeutic area value proposition into customer-focused messaging tools. Develop, adapt, and tailor marketing communication assets and narrative as foundation for sales and marketing campaigns.
  • Build product business cases, considering full P&L metrics, for markets and segments to identify best product fit and return of investment.
  • Partner with global and regional Training teams, co-develop training content, track training success, and sales skill levels. Closely collaborate with regional commercial leadership to plan and execute commercial effectiveness.
  • Act as an interface between global, regional, and local Marketing, MSCO, Market Access, as well as Commercial teams.
  • Support the Launch Excellence Manager in driving EMEA product launches as part of cross-functional teams across the EMEA region.
  • Consult Marketing Lead and Marketing Managers in creating EMEA and regional commercial and brand plans.
  • Continuously monitor the market and competition, conduct market analyses, and transform into strategies and tactics to improve the therapeutic area portfolio positioning and grow the business.
  • Track business metrics and actively propose actions to maximize the impact of the therapeutic area portfolio. Proactively create business opportunities and strategies to avoid risks.
  • Externally, manage 3rd party vendors to partner with to complete our platform solutions and to build business/marketing relationships.
  • Act as subject matter expert to develop pricing strategies.
  • Customer Centricity: gain and use deep understanding of perceived therapeutic area portfolio values, clinical pathways, and funding streams.
Requirements
  • BA/BS in Marketing, Business, and/or Biological Science or related field required, higher degree strongly preferred.
  • At least 7+ years industry experience with ideally 3+ years of experience in in vitro diagnostics marketing functions, ideally familiar with Point-of-Care testing.
  • Familiarity with Infectious Diseases and diagnostic landscape.
  • Proven ability of delivering goals in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory; additional language will be considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal-, negotiation-, and influencing skills.
  • Problem-solving attitude; creative, flexible, change embracing.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate & collaborate with all key stakeholders at higher and lower reporting levels.
  • Strong focus in understanding and extracting customer value.
  • Balanced mix of strategic and tactical focus.
  • High level of comfort interpreting and communicating complex technical information, including clinical concepts, statistics, and outcomes.
  • Positive mindset and collaborative attitude to bring down barriers for goals.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time (nationally and internationally).
