We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research group in Theoretical and Computational Biophysics at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on elucidating the mechanical properties and failure of microtubule filaments as well as their interactions with intrinsically disordered proteins such as tau proteins.
Responsibilities- Conduct research on the mechanical properties and failure of microtubule filaments using atomistic molecular dynamics simulations and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics methods.
- Investigate the interactions between microtubule filaments and intrinsically disordered proteins such as tau proteins.
- Collaborate with experimental groups to design and conduct experiments to validate the results of the simulations.
- Present research findings at international conferences and publish papers in top-tier scientific journals.
- Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field with a strong background in statistical mechanics and scientific computing.
- Excellent programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Fortran.
- Experience with molecular dynamics simulations and non-equilibrium statistical mechanics methods.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
